American Commercial Luger Holsters: The Pioneer Company

  1. Luger open top, safety strap style 89 LUG 4 for 3-5/8-inch or 98mm barrel
  2. Luger holster style No. 78 – LUG – 8 for 8-inch or 200mm barrel Artillery

  2. This holster is circa 1939-1950 and is a rare Eubanks/Pioneer transition P.08 style Luger, brown leather holster as indicated by the combination Eubanks-Pioneer logo. The holster is in just about excellent condition and was made by the Eubanks-Pioneer Company, Boise, Idaho. This firm was started as Eubanks in about 1939 then evolved into the Pioneer Leather Company and subsequently in about the mid-fifties to Idaho Leather, which is still in operation today in Boise, Idaho and run by descendants of the original Eubank Family. This holster is probably identified in the pictured Eubanks-Pioneer holster catalog. As to whether there is a separate printing of a specific Pioneer Holster catalog is unknown at this time.

  4. This holster is circa 1950-54 and is a rare Artillery Luger holster in black basket weave, whip stitched. The holster is in just about excellent condition and was made by the Pioneer Company, Boise, Idaho. This firm was started as Eubanks in about 1939 then evolved into the Pioneer Leather Company and subsequently in about the mid-fifties to Idaho Leather, which is still in operation today in Boise, Idaho and run by descendants of the original Eubank Family. This holster is probably identified in the pictured Eubanks-Pioneer holster catalog with a Eubanks-Pioneer logo, vs., the subject Artillery Pioneer Company only holster logo. Although, as to whether there is a separate printing of a specific Pioneer Holster catalog is unknown at this time. The holster, Eubanks style number 78 LUG 8 is identified in 100mm and 200mm Artillery Luger barrel lengths and described on page 2 of a period Eubanks catalog.
