George Lawrence Catalog Co.

1932 Catalog

This fine original condition 1932 G.W. Lawrence catalog was acquired from the personal collection of Bill Lawrence the great, grandson of George W. Lawrence Sr. along with a 6-1/2" x 3" leather panel with the impression of 6 different "Lawrence" logos and one for "S.SHERLOCK"; the name of Geo. Lawrence's brother-in-law who started the firm in 1857. It appears that some extension, maybe "CO" had been removed from the Sherlock die for some reason long ago. The name was changed to Lawrence in 1893, so the Sherlock stamp predates that event. Otherwise, the stamps were used on different Lawrence products through the years. "I donated these stamps to the Columbia Gorge Museum in The Dalles, OR. where they have a very nice permanent exhibit of most of my large collection of GLCo. tooling and artifacts," Bill Lawrence.
