1929 Catalog

It is noted on page 2 of this 1929 George Lawrence Co. catalog that it is the No. 10 published catalog in this "series", which is an interesting statement seeing that out of nine prior catalogs that no earlier Lawrence catalog has, of date, ever been identified. Assuming the nine previous catalogs are consecutive and based on the 1929 catalog, the first catalog would be 1919 or earlier if the catalogs were issued one per year. However, early in the Lawrence Company business, they may have issued catalogs sparingly until they established themselves. According to the 1929 catalog cover page statement of "Serving Transportation Since 1857", one wonders how did the Lawrence Company offered or advertised their wares? That the 1929 catalog did offer holsters for the Luger is verified, and additionally the 1929 dating of the catalog is basically verified by a picture ad and specifically the Super 38A cartridge information designed to penetrate cars in the late 1920s.

A partial explanation for the lack of any identified catalogs prior the 1929 issue is the fateful admonition of many companies that issue successive catalogs is the collectors' nightmare statement of: Please destroy all old catalogs as new numbers have been adapted. Use the number given herein to avoid confusion.
